CoreLogic Credco offers various products that you can choose to offer to affected
consumers for protection against fraud and identity theft. Some of these are basic,
such as credit reports and credit monitoring services. If your valued customers
are affected by a data security breach, you will probably want to offer additional
protection to them, such as ID Theft Restoration.
The flexible SIRN identity theft product solutions below are optional and can be
selected at the time of the data security breach. Some of the include:
Credit Report
A credit report details an individual's credit history. This history includes personal
identification information, a listing of credit accounts and loans, payment record
on those accounts (particularly late payments), defaults, charge-offs, repossessions,
bankruptcies and recent inquiries from third parties (such as potential lenders
or insurers) about the credit report. The report is broadly defined as a document that
contains information about who a person has borrowed money from, how well they pay bills,
and how much debt is owed.
Our 1-Bureau Credit Report will include information from Experian, one of the three major
credit reporting agencies that have a credit file on you. The report would include the
following:
- Your address, present and past
- Outstanding debts
- Record of payments (e.g. regular, late, missed)
- Public record information, such as liens or court judgments against you
- Your employer's name and address
A consumer will be able to look over their report to see if there’s any abnormal or
suspicious activity on their file. The credit report will be "below the line",
meaning that the order will not have a negative impact on the customer’s credit score.
3-Bureau Credit Report
There are three major credit reporting agencies that have a credit file on you:
Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. They do not share information with each other and
most lenders do not subscribe to the services of all three agencies. Therefore, your
credit report with each of the three agencies may differ as to completeness of
information. However we have a solution to offer consumers: a consolidated 3-Bureau
Credit Report from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
The consolidated report would include the following from each of the three credit
repositories:
- Your address, present and past
- Outstanding debts
- Record of payments (e.g. regular, late, missed)
- Public record information, such as liens or court judgments against you
- Your employer's name and address
A consumer will be able to look over their report to see if there's any abnormal or
suspicious activity on their file. The credit report will be "below the line",
meaning that the order will not have a negative impact on the customer's credit score.
1-Bureau Monitoring
A consumer needs to routinely know what’s accurate on their credit file, especially
if an organization has a breach which may have involved them. To help catch suspicious
or incorrect activity, you can provide your consumers a monthly Experian Monitoring report.
This will check a consumer’s file regularly for suspicious activity so that they can
consistently view significant changes to their credit file. These changes could include
address changes, newly opened accounts, derogatory information and file inquiries –
all of which are signs of identity theft.
3-Bureau Monitoring
There are three major credit reporting agencies that have a credit file on you: Equifax,
Experian and TransUnion. They do not share information with each other and most lenders
do not subscribe to the services of all three agencies. It’s better protection for
your consumers to have monitoring from all three of the credit reporting agencies.
To help catch suspicious or incorrect activity, you can provide your consumers with a
3-Bureau Monitoring report monthly. This will check a consumer’s file regularly for
suspicious activity so that they can consistently view significant changes to their credit
file. These changes could include address changes, newly opened accounts, derogatory
information and file inquiries – all of which are signs of identity theft.
Fraud Insurance
It’s important for an organization to provide insurance coverage for its
consumers in case there is an incident of fraud. We have an optional inclusion of
$25,000 fraud insurance that includes a $250 deductible.
Identity Theft Restoration
If an affected consumer becomes a victim of identity theft as a result of a data security
breach, SIRN can assign a case manager to help the consumer walkthrough the case and
appropriately handle the incident.
SIRN ID Theft Restoration Services include:
-
Providing the consumer with an information package including a description
of the resolution process, educational articles, and guidance for avoiding
future complications.
-
Notifying the three major credit bureaus and providing assistance with
requesting that a fraud alert be placed on your credit files and affected
credit accounts.
-
Reviewing the consumer's credit files with them to determine the accuracy
of the file and potential areas of fraud.
-
Notifying as needed, the affected creditors, financial institutions, credit
card companies, utility providers, and merchants of the identity fraud.
-
Providing information to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and to other
government agencies as appropriate.
-
Creating and maintaining a case file to document the identity fraud.
Non-Credit Monitoring
SIRN provides reports of any non-credit loan activity associated with the
consumer’s name, date of birth and Social Security number. This type of
activity can include payday loans where someone can get a small, short-term,
high-rate loan from a check casher, without a credit inquiry being conducted.
Usually, a borrower writes a personal check payable to the lender for the amount
he or she wishes to borrow plus a fee. These loans can be made with fraudulent
checks, identity documents and do not require credit inquiries.
